Dave began his career in the automotive sales industry with Paul Harvey Ford. In 1999, Dave became Fleet Manager for Don Hinds Ford where he was instrumental in creating the Commercial/ Ford Fleet Department, soon after becoming Master Certified in Commercial Truck Sales, retiring in 2010. He was a Civil War aficionado, car buff, avid reader, Notre Dame Football and Indiana University Basketball fan, who adored his family pets.

I have been in touch regarding the 2012 Reunion Committee for our 50th reunion. I would like to help out. Don't want to take my life for granted, but my wife and I are DEFINITELY planning to attend our 50th Class Reunion at Tech. Both my wife (Phyllis) and I are members of that great class and how well I remember that 1962 was the 50th anniversary of Tech High School. Sure hope the word gets out and that we have a huge turnout for this historic event.

I still have family living in the INDY area and we usually visit every summer for a few days.

I met my spouse while working at Eli Lilly and Company.

I have four children - three sons and one daughter. My first son passed away in 2006. He had one son and twin grandsons. My middle son works in the automotive industry, married and has twin step-sons. He was in the Navy for 5 years. My youngest son is retired from the Navy (Flight Engineer) and lives in Hawaii. He is married and has two daughters. My daughter was a 911/police dispatcher, a reserve deputy for the Henry County Sherriff's Dept. and EMT. She is currently an RN at a local hospital working in the ER. My former husband (my daughter's dad) was a Major with the Indiana State Police and passed away in 2006 shortly before my son passed. I have 10 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren (twin boys).
I retired from Eli Lilly and Company in 2004 after 34 yrs of service and in my spare time love to spend time with my grandchildrenand attend their sporting events. My husband retired in 2008 from Eli Lilly. I love to travel to Florida with my family every summer. My husband and I enjoy traveling to Cozumel, Mexico; Myrtle Beach and Amish country.

After TECH I went to Purdue where I met my wife (Virginia Eve Wood). One week after graduation, with an Electrical Engineering degree, Eve and I were married and moved to Cocoa Beach Florida. I went to work for The Boeing Company and helped launch Saturn V rockets from Apollo II through VIII. I was a prime firing room console operator for the launch of Apollo VIII. I rode an elevator one time from the cafeteria to the firing room with Dr Debus (NASA head at the Cape) and Dr Wernher von Braun (the father of the US space program). Could not understand them, they were speaking German.

After Boeing I worked for Texas Instruments in Dallas. In Dallas Eve gave up teaching and started working for the State with licensing of day care centers. Our next move was to Grand Rapids Michigan. I went to work for Lear Siegler. During this time I helped Eve with her new book business. Restoration of a light blue 60’ Corvette was started. (25 years later and it is almost complete). Our new daughter Julie Baker became the focus of our attention. My job took us to Santa Monica California for about 9 months.

After the days heat let up Eve and I would spend late hours riding a 70’ Triumph motorcycle through an empty downtown Dallas. We also tailored the bike once to Big Bend National Park for a great vacation. Back then I drove a 61’ MGA back and forth to work and Eve drove a 68’ GTO.

Eve had a season pass to Universal Studios. Eve would take Julie over and over to see the A-Team live stunt show. I rode a bicycle back and forth to work. Only got rained on twice.

I have now been with Raytheon in Fort Wayne Indiana for nearly 23 years. We spent a vacation at Denali National Park in Alaska when Julie was doing her internship prior to graduation from IU. She has now graduated and we went to Ship Wreck Beach on Kauai for her wedding. Now Julie is starting her memories that she can share at her 50th school reunion.

Creating a website is a nifty idea, Charlene, but NO WAY could we be talking about a 50th class reunion. How is that possible?! My stunned disbelief notwithstanding, I admire those of you are investing such effort and love into reconnecting our far-flung network of old friends and acquaintances. The prospect of seeing some of you again, or at least hearing your stories, activates lots of old stuff--the good, the bad, and silly. Hanging out in the Pot with Mary, Shiloh, Donna and Phyllis, ogling the Big Men on Campus, like Jim Curran, George Howe, Stephen May and David Butcher. Thinking I was hot stuff in my ROTC sponsor uniform. Wrapping 2 yards of pink angora yarn around my boyfriend's class ring to make it fit. The House of Blue Lights and garbage floats at the drive-in by the Fairgrounds. I left Indianapolis soon after high school but it still feels like home. Rockford State Park and another County Park nearby Rockford. On to an area further up in the mountains and then around Sauk Mountain. The forest is so haunting and beautiful with the moss hanging off of everything. Like a Fairy Tale. Rockford State Park was particularly "like a fairy tale" because of the dampness and density, there was a lot of hanging moss, uprooted old growth trees and "nurse" logs. From Madaline Koch Sesslar: I have found out on Find a Grave Memorial, that Gary Wayne Cox died in Vietnam. He died May 28, 1969. His name is on the Vietnam Wall Panel 23, line 007.
Since next Friday is Veterans Day I thought if this could be posted to the Tech High School 1962 site to see how many Classmates would go to Find a grave memorial and leave a note or flower in his honor. His name is PFC Gary Wayne Cox, Oct 26, 1949- May 28, 1969. Thanks Madeline
