Mother: Mary Lou Albertson Heck (1922-1993) mother of Madonna Heck, Class of 1959 and Stephen Heck Class of 1962. Married Jack Heck from Somerset, Indiana in 1940. She gave birth to Madonna Heck in 12/41 and Stephen in 1/43 and was a stay-at-home mom during their growing-up years until high school. She received the highest Girl Scout National Award in 1960 in Philadelphilia and was appropriately honored.

Jack Heck 91, Indianapolis, passed away December 22, 2009. He was born January 10, 1918 in Somerset, IN. Jack had served in the United States Navy in WWII. He owned and operated Jack's Barber Shop from 1947-2007. Jack was a member of the Keystone Masonic Lodge #251 F. & A. M. Jack was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Lou (Albertson) Heck, on July 4, 1993; and a brother who was killed in WWII. Jack is survived by his children, Steve Heck (Judy) and Madonna Deputy; 10 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Services will be on Saturday, December 26 at 12 p.m. at Legacy Funeral Center at Memorial Park, 9350 E. Washington Street, with calling from 10 a.m. until service time. Entombment will be at Washington Park East Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Melvin and Bren Simon IU Cancer Center. Online condolences may be shared with the family at legacyfuneralcenter.com.

4/18/07 -I graduated from Indiana Central (UIndy) in 1968, received my masters in education from I.U. and retired in 2005 after 37 years teaching 6th grade. I detoured into administration for awhile, but decided the classroom was more fun. Susan Hall (1961) and I were married in 1965 and we have a son, Keith and a daughter Jill. Our son and his wife have two daughters, ages 7 and 8 and live in Huntsville, AL. Our daughter and her husband have two sons ages 3 and 10 months and live in LaPorte, Indiana. We live five miles east of Vernon, Indiana on a small tree farm. Besides teaching I've been involved in North Vernon Kiwanis, I served a term as mayor of the small town of Vernon, and I restored an 1840 Greek Revival home that we used as a bed and breakfast until 2002. As fast as the years are flying it will be 2012 quickly. It will be fun to talk to high school friends and acquaintances.

Father: Charles O. "Bud" Hendricks 83, Indianapolis died July 19, 2005. Mr. Hendricks was born on July 19, 1922 in Indianapolis, the son of Arthur D. and Frieda (Bernitt) Hendricks. He founded and was owner of Hendricks Engineering until his retirement in 1991. He attended Arsenal Technical High School and served in the U.S. Army during W.W. II for three years, serving in the European Theater. Bud was a member of Gethsemane Lutheran Church, Englewood Lodge # 715 F. & A.M., Scottish Rite, Valley of Indianapolis, past commander of VFW Post # 6788 and a member of American Legion Post # 220. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Kathleen Montgomery. He is survived by his loving daughter Anita Kay Socks and son-in-law, Max Socks, Sr.

Her mother: Edna M. Hittle 90, Indianapolis, died Sunday, April 16, 2006, at Community East Hospice. Edna was born in West Union, IL to Samuel and Amanda Sheets. She was married to Byron Class Hittle, who preceded her in death. After moving to Indianapolis in 1956, Edna was employed by the Typographical Union, by Howard Sams and Co., and later, until retirement, by the Indianapolis-Marion County Public Library. Her life was devoted to helping others through work at church and in her neighborhood. A member of Centenary Christian Church, she served in many roles and was honored by the congregation as their Disciples Lay Woman in 1998. Edna is survived by three daughters, Barbara Hittle, Connie Hittle, and Janice Hittle. Memorial contributions may be made to A Caring Place, (sponsored by Catholic Charities Indianapolis), Centenary Christian Church, or the Alzheimer's Association.

Harry was a Chief Petty Officer in the U.S. Navy during WWII. During his Naval service on the USS Euryale, he received the elite distinction of joining the Ancient Order of the Deep and the Order of the Golden Dragon for crossing under the equator. Reunion 2012: Yes, if it is God's will. Getting together before 2012, might be a possibility. Helping to plan and organize would be nice if I had the time. My youngest adopted daughter will be 12 by then. My adopted son is 12. He is from Guatemala. My adopted daughters are 7,9,9 (not twins). I also have two more adopted sons at home 15,16. My oldest are 42 in May (daughter) and an adopted son almost 40. My daughters 7 and 9 have Down Syndrome. My kids are the light of my life and keep me young. This is what God wants me to do.

My Mom was a member of your class. Her name was Charlene Jones. If anyone in your class has any interesting stories about my Mom please let me know. My brothers and I would love to hear from anyone that has a story. Charlene passed away in April 2000. She had a stroke and was in a nursing home for a year. Then she passed. She was 56. Entirely too young. I would really like to hear some stories just to get to know her a little better how she was when she was younger. Thank you. Sincerely, Becky Grisell

July 11, 1999 - City-County Councilman Paul H. Jones Jr. died unexpectedly of natural causes Saturday at Methodist Hospital. He was 55.

Jones, a Democrat, represented the city's 10th District for 12 years. This year, however, he decided to give up his safe seat and run for one of four at-large seats in the November general election. In interviews earlier this year with The Indianapolis Star and The Indianapolis News, Jones acknowledged that his decision was a risky one, especially since no Democrat had won an at-large seat since the start of Uni-Gov in 1970.

But he said he was encouraged because Bart Peterson was such a strong Democratic mayoral candidate. "He's brought a lot to the table - a lot of enthusiasm. I thought it was now or never," Jones said in May.

Upset by his friend's death, fellow Councilman Rozelle Boyd said he talked with Jones two or three times Friday and was in meetings with him Thursday. Boyd said Jones was excited about the election and gave no hint of any medical problems.

His colleague said Jones would be remembered as a peacemaker. "I think he brought to the Democratic Caucus and to the larger council a skill to bring people together," Boyd said.

Jones was born Feb. 8, 1944, in Cadiz, Ky. His family moved to Indianapolis a short time later. He graduated from Tech High School in 1962, and attended Ball State University and Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis.

He worked in customer service at United Parcel Service for 30 years, retiring two years ago.

Jones was a longtime member of Eastside Baptist Church and was dedicated to city youth activities. He served as a precinct committeeman before running for the City-County Council.

He is survived by his wife, Tommie Jones two sons, Paul H. Jones III and Jason Jones, both of Indianapolis a daughter, Kimberly Jones of Chicago his mother, Mary Jones of Indianapolis and a brother, Charles Jones.

She was a member of Shalom Mennonite Church and Cumberland Eastern Star. An Eastern Star services will be held with funeral service following at Shalom Mennonite Church, 6100 E. 32nd St., Indianapolis. Survivors include her step-sister Pam (John) Heylann and many friends.
